 | Chris Canty. A fourth round pick out of Virginia in 2005, enters his third season with the Cowboys. Once regarded as the ACC's premier defensive end, Canty suffered a knee injury in the fourth game against Syracuse, thus ending his Collegiate career and dropping him into the fourth round. Canty led all of the Cowboys defensive linemen his rookie season with 43 tackles. With impressive size of 6-7 and 300 pounds and a cat-like quickness that allows him to get into the opponents backfield, Canty should be a cornerstone for the Dallas defense for years to come. This is Canty's 2006 Throwback helmet that he wore with the Cowboys. All components of this helmet are original, worn by Canty, and consistent with Cowboys game helmets.
Riddell VSR4 model helmet, painted pro gloss white, in a size Large. Comes complete with a Schutt S-RJOP-UB-DW-CUS Stainless Custom mask as worn by Canty in an effort to avoid oral injury. Canty's masks are custom made by Schutt and are unavailable to the public. We do not know of another player that wears this style of mask. The mask is attached to the helmet with Schutt Clips on the top and "Stabilizer" clips on the sides. Phillips Schutt screws are used to secure the mask. The chinstrap is an Adams Pro 100 hard cup with the straps configured to the low mount hook-up.
The Star decals of the helmet remain intact with no lifting or seperation from the helmet. They remain in excellent condition with water spots from cleaning. The center stripes are three seperate stripes as preferred by the Cowboys equipment staff, with the white center stripe having a second one applied to the top and trimmed to the name identifier. Decals on the rear of the helmet include: Cowboys rear bumper, authentic team warning label, American Flag, NFL Shield, as well as CANTY dymo tape identifier as used by the Cowboys since the 60's. A Riddell navy blue decal is placed on the front nose bumper of the helmet. As Canty suffered a retina injury in 2005, the helmet also has an Oakley 60% Gray tinted shield installed. The Oakley logos have been blacked out with a marker by the Dallas Equipment staff, per NFL uniform licensing policy.
The helmet shows heavy wear for a special throwback helmet worn for just two games. Wear to the mask and visor are also exhibited. The helmet has a Prova ID tag inside the helmet beneath the padding. The Prova ID tag is placed on the helmet by the Dallas Cowboys when issued to the player. This ID tag verifies that the item is 100% authentic. Prova ID tags are used by the Dallas Cowboys as a way to "electronically fingerprint the item."
