You've seen the beer commercials.  Forget all that.  The most interesting person in the world may very well be Tim Green.  In High School, Green was a two time first team All-State selection.  His senior season, he was the upstate New York Player of the Year.  He could of attended college most anywhere - but chose Syracuse - where he wore this helmet his senior season.  At Syracuse, Green was a four year starter for the Orangemen.  A strong, fast pass rusher, Green was an All American, Team Captain, and the team MVP - all while wearing this helmet.  He set sack records including most in a season, most in a game (4), and most in a career at Syracuse (45.5) - a record that still stands today.  He did all of this while wearing this helmet.  Following his senior season, Tim was selected in the First Round of the NFL Draft, 17th overall by the Atlanta Falcons.  This is Green's 1985 Syracuse Senior season helmet that he wore with the Orangemen.  All components of this helmet are original, worn by Green, and consistent with Syracuse game helmets.

BIKE Athletic Company, Pro AiR model helmet, molded orange, in a size Large.  This style helmet along with the AiR Power were the preferred helmets in College football in the mid 1980s.   The helmet was produced in 1983 and was reconditioned for Green for the 1985 Season by All American with a 1985 reconditioning sticker on the helmet interior.  The helmet comes complete with a Schutt NJOP mask, dated 1984, in navy blue as worn by Green during his career. The mask was attached to the helmet with Schutt style clips on the top that have become brittle and broke - as they all do.  We have not replaced these clips but could be by the new owner.  The sides of the mask are attached with very early, rare, first generation Shockblockers.  Although the surgical tube has also broken away, the appearance and practicality of these rare clips remain.  Phillips Schutt screws are used to secure the mask to the top of the helmet. The mask is dated 2005 while the clips are 2004. The chinstrap is an All American high mount, soft cup, preferred by Green throughout his career.  Metal buckles hold the chinstrap to the helmet in the high and low positions.

The stripes of the helmet remain intact with no lifting or seperation from the helmet. They remain in good condition with normal scuffing and transfer marks.  Left over adhesive residue is visible from stripes being replaced - very common with a hard hitting every day starter on the defensive line.  Green's number 72 is on the rear of the helmet - numbers that were worn by the Orangemen during Green's senior season.  The helmet shows heavy wear on the outside of the helmet. Deep gouges and scuffs are found on the front, with moderate scuffs on the sides and rear of the helmet.
